Refrigerant reclamation refers to the process of recovering used refrigerant and restoring it to a like-new condition. A refrigerant can be classified as reclaimed once it has undergone a purification process using equipment that meets AHRI-740 and ISO 11650 standards, followed by a laboratory analysis verifying that it fulfills the AHRI-700 quality criteria.

Natural resources are finite, and their continuous extraction generates significant emissions and environmental harm. While reclaimed refrigerants have the same GWP (Global Warming Potential) as their virgin counterparts, the carbon footprint of reclaimed refrigerant (per kg) is considerably lower compared to the production of new refrigerant.

Since 2020, the use of new high-GWP refrigerants has been strictly limited, with an exception made for reclaimed refrigerants such as R404A, which may be used until the end of 2031. The only laboratory of its kind in the Nordics—capable of comprehensive quality analysis for HFC and HFO gases—makes it possible to reclaim refrigerants even beyond 2031.

Instead of disposal, reclaimed refrigerants offer a cost-efficient option with compensation for returned gases.

Almost all refrigerants are suitable for reusing, e.g.:

• HFC substances with GWP > 2500: R404A, R507A, etc.
• Other HFC substances: R134a, R410A, R407C, etc.
• HFO substances: R1234yf, R1234ze, etc.

Agree on the delivery of the recovered refrigerant to Darment:

Transfer the refrigerant to a recovery bottle, e.g. Darment's Omeca 61 l

​ ​ ​• One bottle can contain only one refrigerant
​ ​ ​• Bottles can be ordered from Darment, item H01021075.
​ ​ ​• The tank's periodic inspection must be valid
​ ​ ​• The substance can be filled into the container with a maximum of 95% of the maximum amount of pure substance

Attach a recovery form :

​ ​ ​• Company from which recovered, locality
​ ​ ​• Type and amount of refrigerant
​ ​ ​• Container identifier/serial number

​Note! If the cylinder contains one or more CFC or HCFC refrigerants or several refrigerants mixed together, it cannot be directly reclaimed. Ask Darment sales whether the ​ ​ ​ ​​refrigerant can still be recycled and thus avoid the costs of disposing of the hazardous substance. If the contents of the cylinder delivered to Darment are not suitable for ​ ​          ​recycling at all, we will deliver it for proper disposal and charge the disposal costs to the customer.
